During the early part of the last century, Ralph Vaughn Williams was travelling the country in search of local folk songs. He stayed in Stainton during this time as a guest of the Rev Gatty.
Whilst at the Vicarage he was given two songs by John Thomas, which included a Christmas Carol not recorded anywhere else in the country.
So, we have a unique Christmas Carol, from 1907. See the Carol on its own page
